Ants Treatment in the Cayman Islands

better known as the Sugar ant because of its feeding behaviour.  This is Cayman’s most common household ant. 

We are all familiar with these little red / brown ants trailing in our kitchens and disappearing into cracks in the wall or window frames where they live in large multiple nests. It has been quoted that an ant colony can have up to one million individuals. 

better known as the black running ant. This ant gets its name by producing a rotten coconut odour when crushed. These ants can be found all over the house but especially kitchens and bathrooms. 

They can nest inside or outside of the home and will trail great distances to get food which consists of protein and carbohydrates. A typical colony would contain around 10,000 ants.

known as locally as Peck Pecks are large red / brown ants. Normally they nest outdoors where they build create galleries in wood. If they nest indoors then they tend to be in hollow window frames, hollow doors, under eaves or under insulation in the attic.  

They eat dead insects and also honeydew. They mainly come out at night to feed, and forage as individuals – they do not trail. These ants do not digest wood but create tunnels in the wood to nest.

these are very painful stinging ants and sometimes lead to allergic reactions. They nest in the ground and produce large mounds in the garden – especially after heavy rains. 

These ants are normally a problem outside only but occasionally come inside the home after heavy rains. They feed on dead animals and some plants.
