Scorpion are very common in certain parts of the Cayman Islands. During the day they live under rocks in dark places including attics. They can easily climb walls gaining access to the attic in your home searching for food. From the attics they can enter the rest of the home via light and a/c fixtures. They are also found in garages in fact any dark secluded spot.
Scorpions are nocturnal and live under rocks or any debris that is lying around. At night they search for food (insects) and can easily climb walls of your home and get into the attic space from where they can hunt for food throughout the house. The sting is very painful but usually not lethal.
Scorpions have a very painful sting and large numbers can occur very quickly. The female scorpion carries her young (25 – 35) on her back for up to two weeks before they are able to fend and feed for themselves.
Control is difficult – can take several treatments. Normally the attic and outside perimeters also need to be treated.
